Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap Environment Art

Built in Unreal Engine 5 for PC and Console, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap leverages both Nanite and Lumen.

GAME DESCRIPTION: Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap is a strategic, fast-paced action-tower defense game where players must defend key objectives from waves of invading orcs and other monstrous enemies using a combination of real-time combat, trap placement, and environmental hazards.

MY ROLE: I was fortunate to join the talented team at Robot Entertainment as a temporary Environment Art Consultant. My contributions focused primarily on vista assets and large-scale environmental world-building, with additional responsibilities in material creation and modular building design. Using tools like World Machine and the Unreal Engine Material Graph, I developed a landscape master auto material system, along with supporting material functions that allowed mesh and landscape materials to dynamically adjust based on height and slope. This workflow significantly streamlined terrain blending and improved visual consistency across biomes and elevation changes.
